Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien – Programme: Computer Music and Electronic Media

This is an educational platform for the artistic discussion of new technologies and their forms. The course stresses the technical and theoretical fundamentals (computer and electro-acoustic music, acoustics, psychoacoustics, history, analysis) as well as artistic composition principles (concept, realization and presentation).
The digital coding of acoustic and visual signals and their use in the telecommunications industry lead to new and unusual production methods and creative presentation possibilities. New ways of combining traditional art forms like music with visual art and performing art evolve, and terms like “digital art” and “new media” are coined.
