Stefan Rummel’s »Endlose Reflexionen« is an object that can be entered as well as a resounding sculpture. The six-meter high wood construction, whose form is reminiscent of pre-Columbian pyramids, leans against the entrance portal to the Laboratorio, appearing to block the regular entrance. Seventeen steps lead up to the top, ending at the highest point of the portal. Loudspeakers are integrated into the sculptures that emit sounds recorded by Rummel in Mexico which he then processed electronically. The reverberations of the sounds change depending on the visitor’s position in the space, mixing with the noises in the surroundings. In doing so, the installation focuses not only on the location of its presentation, it opens up space for interpretations and associations that stretch far beyond it.
»Endlose Reflexionen« was conceived during a residency for the open inner courtyard of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca (MACO) and was shown there from 26 November 2015 to 31 May 2016.

»Reflexiones infinitas« es tanto un objeto transitable como una escultura sonora. La construcción de madera de seis metros de altura, cuya forma hace referencia a las pirámides precolombinas, se recarga en el portal de entrada del Laboratorio y bloquea el acceso habitual. Diecisiete escalones llevan hacia arriba y terminan en el punto más alto del portal. En la escultura se encuentran integradas bocinas desde las cuales se escuchan sonidos que el artista grabó en México y después procesó electrónicamente. Las reflexiones de los sonidos se transforman y se mezclan con los ruidos del entorno dependiendo de la posición del visitante. La instalación tematiza de esta manera no sólo el lugar de su presentación, sino también sugiere interpretaciones y asociaciones que van más allá.
»Reflexiones infinitas« fue creada para el cubo abierto del Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca (MACO) durante una residencia artística donde fue exhibida del 26 de noviembre de 2015 al 31 de mayo de 2016.
