Concert

double video work on three monitors. First, of urban environments finding people in particular situations related to spatial features: sitting at a table, waiting in line, walking through an open square, etc. Second and third videos translate verbally the first video: people listening to the sounds of the first video attempt to describe in words what they are hearing, replacing sound-track with sound-poem, found sound with psychological image. The work forms a play of place and its aural life, subtracting and adding to its soundscape through personal narrative and the impressionistic response on the part of listeners.
Backstage

working with the architecture of the space, its two main archways, large wooden swinging doors are built and inserted, creating breaks and alterations within the space, making active its interior through creating a "stereo space". Recordings of a crowd found backstage form the basis for acoustically activating the space. Loudspeakers are mounted at the far-ends and inside the doors, creating a multitude of sonic viewpoints. The work makes an instrument out of the space, not only as acoustic-resonator, but as body-locator where one moves through the crowd.
