»sound spaces berlin – aussen« presents an art parcous open to everyone at the Center for Art and Urbanism (ZK/U) in Berlin-Moabit and at the House of Statistics in Berlin-Mitte. The freely accessible area at the ZK/U with its large courtyard, playground and large green garden becomes an urban sound park — with sound installations, interactive objects, sculptures and music machines by Ioana Vreme Moser and Erwin Stache. For ten days, »sound spaces berlin – aussen« offers everyone interested time and space for their own experiences, experiments and adventures in the encounter with contemporary art.

Erwin Stache is one of the most renowned artists in the field of interactive sound art. His objects are often ironic alienations of everyday objects, both acoustic and electronic. His materials include midifed telephone dials, prepared alarms, optical computer mice, sound boxes, tuned plywood panels, musical cars, and many other specially produced sound objects. Many of his sculptures are also set up as interactive installations. Here, the spectator becomes the actor. In the spacious garden of the ZK/U in Moabit, »sound spaces berlin – aussen« now presents an interactive course of four selected works by the artist. In addition to his cuckoo clock organ, also sounding doors, a loudspeaker whisper on high poles and a clay pot orchestra.

Similar to Stache, the young Romanian-born artist Ioana Vreme Moser sometimes stuns the audience with surprising metaphors and analogies. For example, her installation »Arboreal Receptors« demonstrates the phenomenon of electromagnetic fields from the perspective of trees. Moser installs self-playing sounding sculptures on tree trunks, making perceptible the invisible tensions at the interface of two very different networks.
With an »outpost« in front of the Haus der Statistik at Alexanderplatz, »sound spaces berlin« will also be active in the center of Berlin: there are three sound islands by Erwin Stache that invite visitors to make music alone or together.
