»entre límites / zwischen grenzen« presents new sound art from Mexico and Germany. The participating artists from both countries are representatives of various generations with thoroughly individual approaches to sound art. Their at times similar local traditions reach far back into the past, while their familiarity with one another has to this day remained rather limited. »entre límites / zwischen grenzen« brings these two scenes together for the first time in the scope of a larger exhibition project. The works presented here are the results of a three-year-long residency and exchange project initiated in 2015 by singuhr — projekte berlin and the Goethe-Institut Mexico. Over half of the sound installations were created during the course of local project residencies. To honour the occasion of the Year of Germany in Mexico and the Year of Mexico in Germany 2016/2017 and to celebrate the city partnership between Berlin and Mexico City the exhibition was first presented in Mexico City and the current version of the exhibition, featuring many new works and marking the completion of the project, can now be experienced in Berlin.
»entre límites / zwischen grenzen« presenta el nuevo arte sonoro de México y Alemania. Los artistas participantes de ambos países son representes de varias generaciones con aproximaciones muy personales al arte sonoro. Si bien las líneas de sus tradiciones locales son en parte similares y provienen de un pasado remoto, el conocimiento que puedan tener unos de otros es a la fecha bastante limitado. »entre límites / zwischen grenzen« reúne por primera vez estas dos escenas en un amplio proyecto de exposición.
Las obras presentadas aquí son el resultado de un proyecto de residencia e intercambio de tres años, iniciado en 2015 por singuhr — projekte berlin y el Goethe-Institut Mexiko. Más de la mitad de las instalaciones sonoras fue creada en el curso de los proyectos de residencia locales. Con motivo del Año Dual de Alemania y México 2016/2017 y del convenio entre las ciudades celebrado entre Berlín y de la Ciudad de México, la exhibición fue primero presentada en la Ciudad de México, y podrá apreciarse ahora presentada con motivo del cierre del proyecto en Berlín con varias obras nuevas.
