Sam Auinger was trained in jazz at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz and studied composition and computer music at Mozarteum Salzburg. Since the early 1980s he has concerned himself with questions of composition, computer music, sound design and psychoacoustics. He has created works for film, theater, radio, video, exhibitions and concerts in Europe and the USA. He has collaborated among others with the bassist Hannes Strobl (»Tamtam«, artists' group »stadtmusik« with Dietmar Offenhuber), with the choreographer Marguerite Donlon, as well as with the performer David Moss. Auinger works together with urban planners and architects and participates often in international conferences on the subject of city planning and architecture. From 2008 to 2012 he was a guest professor for the masters program in sound studies at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin. Sam Auinger lives and works in Berlin.
Sam Auinger tomó clases de jazz en el Conservatorio Bruckner en Linz y estudió composición y música digital en el Mozarteum de Salzburgo. Desde principios de los años 1980s, enfoca su trabajo en cuestiones relacionadas con composición, música digital, diseño de audio y la psicoacústica. Produjo trabajos para cine, teatro, radio, video, exposiciones y conciertos en Europa y EUA. O+A (Sam Auinger & Bruce Odland)

A central topos of »O+A« is the idea of »Hearing Perspective« (Think with your Ears): behind it is the thought that that which characterizes a place is directly reflected in its sound. Revealing these hidden qualities of a place, placing auditory perception in the foreground, that's what drives O+A. Their working methods exhibit truly archeological traits: they lay open buried layers that place listeners in another relationship to their everyday surroundings.
Projects have included »Garten der Zeiträume« (Ars Electronica, Linz, 1990), »TrafficMantra« (Forum Trajanum, Rome, 1991), »Box 30/70« (Berlin a.o. 2001-2008), »Blue Moon« (New York City, 2004) as well as permanent installations in public spaces (a.o. »Sonic Vista«, Deutschherrenbrücke Frankfurt, since 2011).
Una temática central de »O+A« es la idea de »Hearing Perspective«, de que aquello que caracteriza a un lugar se reproduce directamente en su sonoridad. El trabajo de O+A se centra en descubrir esas cualidades de un lugar. Su forma de trabajo tiene tintes cuasi arqueológicos: liberan capas sepultadas que sitúan al escucha en otra relación con su entorno cotidiano.

The examination of sound and space has long been an integral part of katrinem’s artistic work. Comprehensive training in classical music (Violine/Viola) with constant performance practice formed the broad early foundation that led to a specialization in spatial performances and new performance practices. For over 12 years, katrinem is investigating the walkability of cities and its associated spatial perception, through her artistic research and work series go your gait!. Two aspects are emphasized: Observing a site and personally experiencing space while walking.
