katarzyna krakowiak born in 1980

Katarzyna Krakowiak is an artist who explores the limits of architecture using diverse media, in particular sound. She creates large-scale installations which frequently incorporate existing buildings or structures.
Krakowiak studied visual art at the Academy of the Arts in Poznan. In 2013 she received her doctorate from the Academy of Arts in Warsaw. Krakowiak received a special mention at the 2012 Venice Architecture Biennale for her project »Making the walls quake as if they were dilating with the secret knowledge of great powers«, curated by Michal Libera in the Polish Pavillon. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions around the world, including in Warsaw, New York, Paris and Venice.
